Our older people's programme
Our older people's pragramme provides opportunities for community and civic engagement through various volunteer activities in our youth and children’s programme and our women’s programme. Through involvement with our Training Network, older people have opportunities to enhance existing skills and develop new ones.
Computer Classes
Our computer classes for older people is supported by the Benefit IV funds, classes are open to anyone aged 55 and older.

Art/Jewellery Classes
Weekly classes in the SSP Ballybrack Community Centre.

Health Food Made Easy workshop
Opportunities to participate in a six week interactive workshop designed to increase participant knowledge about diet and nutrition and to develop food-related skills such as cooking, budgeting and shopping. Care & Repair
The Care and Repair Programme was established to carry out minor repairs for older and vulnerable people free of charge. No job is too small.

DLR Age Friendly Strategy
The Age Friendly Strategy for Dun Laoghaire Rathdown was launched at an event in County Hall on 4th May. Our CEO, Cormac Shaw, is a member of the Age Friendly Alliance, which coordinated the development of the strategy over the past 12 months, and which will continue to oversee its implementation.
Individuals, active retirement groups, service providers and local organisations all contributed to the development of the strategy. As part of the process, nine themes were used as a basis to consider what improvements could be made to ensure that our county is ‘an Age Friendly place’. These themes are based on the World Health Organisation’s Age Friendly Cities programme, as follows:
1. Outdoor Spaces and Buildings
2. Transportation
3. Housing
4. Social Participation
5. Respect and Social Inclusion
6. Civic Participation and Employment
7. Communication and Information
8. Community Support and Health Services
9. Safety and Security
