ARD Plan - Moving Forward Together

‘Moving Forward Together’ is the Anti-Racism and Diversity Plan for the County of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown 2007-2010.
Moving Forward Together was developed by an inter-agency Steering Committee as a response to Irish Government's National Action Plan Against Racism (NPAR) 2005 – 2008, which called on all cities and counties in the State to prepare local anti-racism and diversity (ARD) plans.

As such, the development of the ARD Plan here in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown was included as a key action in the most recent County Development Board Strategic Action Implementation Plan (SAIP) and was progressed by 11 local statutory and voluntary organisations between May 2006 – August 2007. Many of these organisations are also represented on the CDB.

The development of Moving Forward Together was funded by the Department of Justice, Equality, and Law Reform as part of NPAR, and also received financial support from Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and Southside Partnership DLR

As agreed by the original Steering Committee, the purpose of Moving Forward Together is:

"To promote a more inclusive and inter-cultural society by improving access to services and developing and enhancing participation by ethnic minorities in the social, economic, cultural, and community life in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, and further afield."

Over the three-year lifetime of the Plan, 32 actions under 9 themes will be delivered by nearly 30 organisations in the County who have agreed to deliver actions in 'Moving Forward Together', either as a lead or support partner. We would welcome involvement by other organisations or businesses or indeed, individuals, as the Plan progresses through the implementation phase.

Southside Partnership DLR is currently working in partnership with the Social Inclusion Unit of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, other key agencies and community groups to develop a 3 year Integration Plan for the county. This plan will be made available in October 2011.
