SAVE Southside Addressing Violence Effectively

The inter-agency group SAVE was established to address the issue of domestic violence in the Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown area.

What is Domestic Violence?

Domestic Violence refers to the use of physical, emotional or psychological abuse that takes place in close adult relationships. Any form of violence (including sexual violence) perpetrated by a spouse, partner son, daughter or any other person who has a close or blood relationship with the victim is defined as domestic violence.

What can agencies like SAVE do?

SAVE works with all relevant bodies to develop a comprehensive response to domestic violence. We raise awareness of the effects of domestic violence within our communities. We want to establish effective links with agencies working on behalf of those at risk of domestic violence. We believe it is important that services are designed which reflect Ireland’s cultural diversity. It is also important to develop ways to respond more effectively to those who are experiencing domestic violence by improving the working relationship between all agencies and community groups in the area. To achieve these goals we work to SAVE members include

Southside Traveller Action Group, Women’s Aid, Bray Women’s Refuge, Southside Women’s Action Network (SWAN), An Garda Siochana, Disability Information Group, Dun Laoghaire County Council, HSE, Probation Service, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown Citizen Information Service, Immigrant Council of Ireland, Women’s Project from the Islamic Cultural Centre, Drugs Task Force, Colmcille’s Hospital Loughlinstown, AkiDwa, Southside Partnership, Southside Local Employment Service, SONAS Housing

The SAVE Development Worker is funded by the HSE and hosted by Southside Partnership.
