Out-of-School Supports/Youth Access Programmes
Objective:
To support and engage young people through targeted programmes, and to strengthen or restore their links within formal education; to develop education/training paths as identified through Task Groups and Networks.
Specific actions include the following:
• Tracking/Outreach Initiative: to support the 'Youth Choices Project’ financially and through membership of the steering committee.
•
Futurama 'Out of School' Transition Initiative: continue to support the project through membership of Futurama Steering Committee, through serving as a funding channel for Dormant Accounts and taking responsibility for financial reporting of project until final drawdown in 2008.
• To develop a Youth Café/Drop-in centre with access to a guidance/counseling service.
(Dormant Accounts funding received to appoint part-time Youth Café Coordinator to progress this action in co-operation with Dun Laoghaire EC.)
• To work through the
Youth at Risk Network with Youthreach/Training Centres, schools, relevant agencies and groups to coordinate services and develop initiatives.
• Community Digital Media Project: funding has been approved from Dormant Accounts Fund through the partnership to develop a Community Digital Media Centre in the RAPID area in 2008: to pilot a Community Digital Media Project for 'at risk' young people/early school leavers as part of a inter-agency initiative with DLIADT/RAPID.
•
Support innovative Equine Assisted Learning Project for children with Learning/Behaviour Difficulties in local designated school. • To set up other
Youth Access Programmes for specific target groups/geographic areas as identified by Task Groups/Networks.
